The ABC website confirmed that Janet will sit down with Robin Roberts for an exclusive television interview to air as an ABC News special. “The intensely private pop star, who was known to be extremely close with her brother, Michael, will allow cameras into her Malibu home for the first time ever.” In the Spotlight with Robin Roberts: Janet Jackson” airs WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 18 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Janet Jackson to open the ‘American Music Awards’
Janet Jackson will lead off the Nov. 22 AMAs with what’s billed as a “special opening performance.” Just prior to Janet’s appearance on the AMAs, the artist will release her “Number Ones,” a two-disc set capturing her biggest hits. Yet even with the greatest hits package, and a new single in “Make Me,” one can bet that Janet will undoubtedly lead an AMA tribute to her brother.
“We’re thrilled about having Janet Jackson open this year’s show,” said American Music Awards producer Larry Klein in a news release. “She is an incredibly dynamic performer, and I think the audience will be excited to see what she has in store.”
Other previously announced performers include Whitney Houston, Rihanna, Green Day, Shakira, Lil’ Wayne, Mary J. Blige, Keith Urban, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez, the Black Eyed Peas, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Daughtry and Adam Lambert.

Janet Jackson will talk about her brother’s death in a one-hour primetime special scheduled to air later this month on ABC. “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts will talk to Ms. Jackson for the event, according to website TheFutonCritic.com, which says the event will air Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 10 p.m. “Eastwick” will pre-empted that evening. Roberts is quickly becoming the new Barbara Walters at ABC. She’s also scheduled to host a country music-themed primetime special on Nov. 10.
